Parliament Week

This week we are taking part in 'Parliament Week'.

We are going to be exploring what 'Parliament' and 'Democracy' means and we will be thinking about ways that you can 'Use Your Voice'.

As we think about the idea of 'Use Your Voice', our writing this week is going to be focused on speech bubbles.

A speech bubble is a shape which contains writing to show what somebody is saying.

We would like you to draw a picture of yourself and write a speech bubble which tells the reader about you and what you enjoy learning.

You can complete your drawing and your speech bubble on any paper you have at home.

You could also use this templateParliament Week Speech Bubble Template

Mrs Ryan has completed an example for youMrs Ryan's Speech Bubble

When completing your speech bubble, you can use these sentence starters to help you describe what you like to do and how you like to learn...

My name is...                   I like to...               I enjoy...

As part of our week, we would also like you to think about what you enjoy learning...

Next week is 'What I want to learn week' and we will be looking at your votes to see which types of activities you would like to complete!

We would like you to vote for which of these topics you would like our work to be based upon next week.

Your choices are...

Crazy Science                                                Junk Art                                                   All You Can Eat

Mrs Ryan is really looking forward to finding out which topic you vote for.  You can let Mrs Ryan know your vote by email or during your phone call this week!

Mrs Ryan has been practising representing the numbers 9 and 10 by using a Ten Frame and some objects from home!

Could you try to represent the numbers 9 and 10 using objects that you have at home?

You could draw your own Ten Frame, which is a grid containing 10 squares, or you can use this template to help you ~ Ten Frame Template

Look out for the numbers 9 and 10 at home and in the world around you...

Where might you see these numbers in your house?  Perhaps on a clock, the microwave, on the remote control...

Where might you see these numbers in the world around you?  Perhaps on a front door, on the front of a bus, in a shop window...

Try to record these numbers and where you have seen them!

RE

Our RE work in the coming weeks is going to focus upon the season of Lent.

Last Tuesday was 'Shrove Tuesday', which is also known as 'Pancake Day' and this is celebrated the day before the Season of Lent begins.

Did you make or eat pancakes last Tuesday with your family?  We would really like to see some photographs of any pancakes you enjoyed when we return to school!

These are the pancakes that Mrs Ryan enjoyed on Shrove Tuesday!

Last Wednesday was 'Ash Wednesday' which marks the start of the beginning of Lent.
