The theme of this year's Children’s Mental Health Week is Express Yourself. Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity.

Throughout the week our pupils have been participating in activities based on the theme of this year's Children’s Mental Health Week. They have also shared some inspirational quotes throughout the week. A selection of these quotes have been put into the follow video. We believe that we can all learn something from this video whether we are teachers, parents, children or people in the community.

Monday - Children's Mental Health Week Assembly

Remember, just as we look after our physical health (our bodies) by doing things like exercising, eating well and getting enough sleep, we also need to look after our mental health (our minds). One way of caring for our mental health is to notice and share how we are feeling. Expressing ourselves in creative ways can help us do this.

Access the assembly here. You can access the videos in the PowerPoint by clicking on them.

Monday - Express Yourself Activity 1

This activity allows you to tell you more about yourself and imagine you were on a Treasure Island.

You can write your answers for each question on a sheet of paper at home and share it with us.

Tuesday - Express Yourself Activity 2a

Art is a wonderful way of expressing ourselves. Art allows us to help express not only ourselves, but our emotions and thoughts.  Doing so is a healthy way of coping and expressing our emotions and feelings. We can draw friends hanging out and playing with each other, We can paint raining skies to show our sadness or sunny days to show our happiness.

Tuesday - Express Yourself Activity 2b

Music can be a constructive way to express who you are and what you are feeling.

Music can influence our moods and can be used to reduce stress and improve the sense of well-being.

Music can give us a way to express ourselves, to unleash creativity, to be inspired and uplifted, to relax, and to relieve stress and tension.

Friday - Express Yourself Activity 5

Being YOU means sharing your ideas, pursuing your passions and expressing yourself. If you don’t share your ideas, no one will ever hear them and the world will miss out on something truly important. We think you will love today’s challenge.
