WONDERFUL WATER WORKSHOP 12th November Our pupils had the incredible opportunity to participate in a Wonderful Water Assembly led by Severn Trent Water. This engaging presentation provided valuable insights into the essential role of water in our everyday lives. The assembly explained how the water cycle works, detailing the journey that water takes from nature to our taps. The pupils learned about the intricate processes involved in ensuring that clean water reaches our homes and discussed various ways they can contribute to water conservation. Additionally, the assembly highlighted the importance of recognising our privilege in having access to ample freshwater, especially compared to other countries facing water scarcity. Overall, this enlightening experience not only educated the pupils about the significance of water but also encouraged them to adopt sustainable practices to protect this precious resource. |

WHOLE SCHOOL REMEMBRANCE SERVICE 11th November On this Remembrance Day, the pupils and staff of St. Anne's gathered to honour the heroes who have fought for our freedom. In a heartfelt ceremony, they came together in prayer and song, reflecting on the sacrifices made. The gathering was a profound reflection on the sacrifices made for our freedom, reminding us of the courage and resilience of those who have served. We all learned the importance of promoting peace in our daily lives, recognising that even small acts of kindness contribute to a greater legacy. |

YEAR 2 REMEMBRANCE SERVICE AND PARENTS WORKSHOP 5th November Year 2 warmly welcomed their parents to a heartfelt family remembrance prayer service and workshop dedicated to honouring those who have bravely fought around the world. This special event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals in service to their countries. During the service, pupils participated in a moving prayer session, reflecting on the importance of remembrance and gratitude. Following the prayers, families engaged in a creative workshop where the pupils crafted beautiful poppies as symbols of remembrance. Each poppy, lovingly made, not only represented the fallen but also fostered a sense of community and togetherness. |

ROSA PARKS (SIGNIFICANT INDIVIDUAL/BLACK HISTORY MONTH) October 2024 In Year 2, pupils have been learning about the significant contributions of Rosa Parks during their history topic, particularly in celebration of Black History Month. Rosa Parks, often called the "mother of the civil rights movement," made a courageous stand against racial segregation in the United States by refusing to give up her bus seat. This brave act sparked a wave of activism that changed history and inspired countless individuals to fight for equality. THE BIG BAD WOLF VISITS... 20th September 2024 Year One had a very special visitor in their classroom! To the delight and excitement of all, the infamous Big Bad Wolf made a surprise appearance at the end of their English unit. The pupils were thrilled as they engaged in a fun-filled lesson that brought the beloved character to life. With his charming yet mischievous behaviour, the Big Bad Wolf shared stories and answered questions, This unique experience not only reinforced the lessons from their unit but also sparked the pupils' imaginations, encouraging them to explore more about storytelling and character development. |

THE FEAST OF THE EXALTATION 20th September 2024 Pupils in Reception, Year 2, Year 4, and Year 6 came together to celebrate The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross during our collective Prayer and Liturgy. With bright smiles and eager hearts, the pupils learned about the significance of the cross in our faith. They participated in beautiful prayers, sang uplifting hymns, and shared their thoughts about love and sacrifice. It was a wonderful opportunity for the pupils to connect with one another and grow in their understanding of their faith. |

HSBC SMART MONEY AWARD 19th September 2024 On Thursday 19th September, our school proudly received the HSBC Smart Money Award in recognition of its exceptional efforts in financial education over the past year. This highlights our commitment to equipping pupils with essential financial skills and knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions about money management. Through a series of engaging workshops, interactive lessons, and practical activities, pupils have developed a deeper understanding of budgeting, saving, and responsible spending. |

WRITING COMPETITION 15th July 2024 Children in KS2 entered a 100 word writing competition where they had to write a story in 100 words or less. Some members of our school council judged the competition. Like any story, it had to have a beginning, middle and end and the children were looking for the most imaginative and creative entries. After a lot of discussion, they managed to choose 3 winners

Virtual Music Sharing Concert 26th June 2024 The children in Year 4 participated in a virtual music concert along side other schools within Birmingham. Throughout the summer term, Year 4 worked hard to learn two songs on the ukuleles; Seven Nation Army and It Smells Like Teen Spirit. This was a very special and exciting time of preparation in school and we enjoyed many special events during the Advent season. These included Masses, our Reception Class and Key Stage One Nativity performances, our Key Stage Two Carol Concert, our Advent fundraising, Stay and Pray sessions and Parent Craft Workshops. ADVENT MASS 2023
Thursday 7th December
As we prepare for the coming of the Lord at the start of Advent, the pupils at St. Anne's School gathered together in Mass and sang the hymn "Awake, Awake." This hymn carries a message of anticipation and readiness for the arrival of Christ. With hearts filled with excitement and hope, the students' voices soared, filling the sacred space with the joyful melody.
The hymn's lyrics reminded the students and all those present of the importance of staying alert and awake, ensuring that they are spiritually prepared to welcome the Lord into their lives.
ANTI-BULLYING WEEK 2023 13th November -17th November During Anti-Bullying Week, which started on November 13th, our school dedicated time and effort to raise awareness about bullying and encourage a kind and inclusive atmosphere. This year the theme was 'Make A Noise' and the theme was about empowering young people to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes. One of the activities we took part in was Odd Sock Day. Odd Sock Day is a light-hearted event that is meant to showcase individuality and the importance of accepting others for who they are. This day allowed students to wear mismatched socks, celebrating their uniqueness and embracing diversity. |

26th October 2023 In our first music sharing concert of the year, each class performed the pieces they have been working on in their music lessons. This half term, the topic was 'Music through the Decades' and so each class learnt about a different musical era. They then studied artists from that particular era and performed pieces of music in that style. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the many God-given talents across the school.

YEAR 3 AND 4 MONEY WORKSHOP 4th October 2023 Our Year 3 and 4 pupils engaged in a wonderful learning experience with Metro Bank's "Money Zone" workshop. In three informative sessions, they delved into the vital topics of Banking, Saving, and Budgeting. The banking session opened their eyes to the operations of a bank, understanding deposits and withdrawals, and the safekeeping of money. In the saving session, the children learned about the importance of putting money aside for future needs and wants. The budgeting session highlighted how to plan their spending wisely to avoid running out of money, introducing them to making mindful financial decisions through enjoyable activities and discussions. |

25th October – 29th October 2023 Twenty-eight children across Year 5 and Year 6 got the opportunity to participate in Bikeability training. The programme provided our pupils with invaluable knowledge, experience, and confidence. Year 1 gave thanks for our beautiful world during their Class Assembly. They reflected upon ways that we can care for our world, in preparation for 'Earth Day' which is celebrated on April 22nd every year. Year 1 were inspired by the story of Creation, taken from Genesis, and by the letter, Laudato Si', written by Pope Francis.

YEAR 6 CLASS ASSEMBLY Year 6's class assembly was about love. They explored St Paul's description of love, 'Love is patient, love is kind...' Football tournamentOn Wednesday 19th October, a selection of children in Key Stage Two attended the BCSSA 5-a-side football tournament. The children showed great resilience and attitude on the tournament and were an asset to our school, consistently demonstrating the school games and catholic values. During the tournament, children in Year 6 were brilliant role models in supporting the younger participants and encouraging them to do their best. We managed to return to school with a 2nd place shield too - a great achievement that we are all very proud of! |

HARVEST MASSOn Thursday 13th October we celebrated our Harvest Mass. We gave thanks for our food, for all those who work to ensure that we can enjoy a variety of food and we also remembered those less fortunate than ourselves.

UNICEF: CHanging livesIn 2019 you did something amazing. St Anne's Catholic Primary School took part in the Soccer Aid for UNICEF Playground Challenge raising an incredible £326. All the money you raised went towards UNICEF’s work around the world to give kids the best possible start in life, so that they can grow up happy, healthy, and able to play. Just like children should.
