BEFORE SCHOOL LEARNING

At St Anne’s we aim to provide extended care to meet the needs of today’s busy parents. We also aim to provide a smooth transition between school and club to ensure that our ethos and expectations of both staff and pupils are consistent.

Our before school learning club is very popular with parents and pupils with attendance averaging between 60 and 70 children every day. Our before school learning club consists of a qualified and experienced team who organise activities and deliver a high quality club to enhance and promote the pupils learning, health, well-being and social development. We also invite different external organisations in each term to enhance pupils experiences.

We believe our before school learning club has a positive impact in preparing our pupils to be focused and engaged for the day ahead, promotes health and well-being, and provides opportunities for play and educational activities.

What We Offer

Pupils are provided with a healthy breakfast in-line with the school food standards, guidelines with a wide menu choice which children can have an input in deciding what they would like to eat. Our children have access to a wide range of cereals, toast and squash. Two days a week we offer a hot breakfast which can include beans, sausages, potato waffles and hash browns.

Fresh drinking water is available at all times and fresh fruit and yoghurts when available. Individual dietary requirements and parental preferences are met wherever possible.

Our club has a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere where pupils from all year groups have the opportunity to eat and interact with each other where no day is the same with a wide choice of activities available including creativity, reading, board games, group games, puzzles, sports and learning opportunities. The children also have access to homework support when they find their homework challenging.

Some of the themes our pupils have participated in are

  • Design and Technology
  • Active Kids Fun with Fit 4 Sport
  • Science Inventors
  • Coding
  • Film Club
  • Education Learning Zone (Opportunity to use technology to develop knowledge, understanding and skills across the school curriculum)
  • BE INSPIRED! BE CURIOUS! BE ACTIVE! with boxing and dance expertise.
  • Art and Creativity
  • Table Tennis Players (Opportunity to participate in an intra school competition)

Times and Costing

Our before school learning club currently costs £1 a day for all of our pupils  and is open from 8am to 8.45am. Parents can confirm a place through the office. If you would like your child to have breakfast, please ensure that they arrive before 8.30am as the school kitchen will finish serving food after then.

What the Children Think

I attend before school learning to enjoy my breakfast with my friends and to play different games with them. I learn that it is important to be kind, helpful, but also to be thankful for the food we are being given.  Pupil in Year 5

At Saint Anne’s, I feel there is a variety of activities to get involved in during before school learning club such as using the computers, board games and sports and even though many children attend everybody is made to feel wanted and welcome. Pupil in Year 6

What the Parents Think

I bring my children because it helps me to get to work on time. My children enjoy the breakfast on offer and the activities that are available to them.

St Anne’s before school learning club is convenient for me due to work commitments and it gives my children the opportunity to play, grow and learn with their friends.
