Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

St Anne’s Catholic Primary School is committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and fostering good relationships between all members of our school community.

We believe that every person is uniquely created and loved by God and should be treated with dignity, respect and compassion. Our Catholic ethos underpins our commitment to inclusion and social justice.

Public Sector Equality Duty

St Anne’s Catholic Primary School complies with its duties under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty.

We have due regard to the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not

Protected characteristics defined under the Equality Act 2010 include: age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Equality Objectives (2024–2028)

In line with statutory requirements, the Governing Body has identified the following equality objectives for the period 2024–2028.

Objective 1

To ensure all pupils, including those with protected characteristics and additional needs, are able to access a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum that supports their achievement, wellbeing and personal development.

Objective 2

To continue to promote a culture of respect, tolerance and understanding that reflects our Catholic values and prepares pupils to live and thrive in a diverse, modern society.

Objective 3

To reduce and remove inequalities by identifying and addressing any barriers that may impact on pupil participation, attendance or progress.

Objective 4

To support staff, governors, parents and pupils in understanding their responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and to model inclusive, respectful behaviour in all aspects of school life.

Monitoring and Review

Progress towards these equality objectives is monitored through:
